How to use the Claude API in Nigeria

In short: You can call Claude (Sonnet, Opus and Haiku) from Nigeria through Bridge by Wekoya and pay in naira by bank transfer, with no dollar card or Anthropic account. Bridge speaks the OpenAI format, so you use the OpenAI SDK with a Bridge key and a Claude model ID such as claude-sonnet-5-5.

Claude models and their naira prices

Per million tokens. A token is roughly three quarters of a word. Each model has its own page with what a request costs.

Set it up

1. Create a free account with your email.
2. Open Billing in the console and top up your naira balance by bank transfer to your own account number.
3. Create a key under API keys. It starts with wk_live_ and is shown once, so keep it somewhere safe.
4. Call Claude with the OpenAI SDK:

What to know about Claude on Bridge

• Prompt caching is automatic: keep your instructions and tools at the start of the conversation and send one prompt_cache_key per conversation, and repeated parts are billed at the cached rate. See prompt caching.
• Tool calling, streaming and pictures work in the OpenAI format. You do not need Anthropic's own SDK.
• Claude Code and other coding agents can use Bridge too: see use a coding agent.
• Bridge does not save your prompts or Claude's replies.
