> Answers to common questions about Bridge: paying in naira without a card, tokens, model auto, the Playground, companies, end-user budgets, your own provider keys and whether prompts are stored.

Do I need a card to start? No. Top up by bank transfer and the credit lands in your balance. A card works too if the card clears an international charge, but it is not required.
What is a token, and why is the price per million?A token is roughly three quarters of a word. Prices are quoted per million tokens because a single request costs fractions of a cent, and per-million is the only scale on which the numbers stay readable. Your usage screen shows the exact arithmetic behind each charge.
What does model: "auto" actually do?It picks a model for each request from how long the prompt is, the tier you hint at, and whether images are attached. It will not pick something more expensive than the tier you asked for. If you want a specific model, name it.
What happens if a provider has a problem mid-request?If the failure happens before the first token, the request is retried on another route for the same model. Failures after the first token are returned to you, because there is nothing left to retry cleanly.
Why is my company's balance different from my personal balance? They are two separate wallets. You sign in as one person, but a company has its own balance, its own account number, and its own usage. Everyone on the team spends from the company balance, and your personal balance is never touched by their requests. Being the owner gives you control of the company, not a shared balance.
Does a company get the free welcome credit? No. The welcome credit is a one-time offer for each person, tied to a phone number, and a person can create as many companies as they like, so companies do not receive it. Your personal account keeps its credit, and you can move some of it into a company any time.
How do I add money to a company?Select the company, open Billing, and use any of three ways: transfer to the company's own account number, pay by card, or move credit from your personal balance. Card and personal-to-company transfers are for owners and admins; members and viewers can see the balance but not add to it.
Can I move company credit back to my personal balance? No. Moving credit is one way, from your personal balance into a company. That keeps a company's money in the company, which is what makes its usage and spend trustworthy for a team. Move only what the company needs.
I created my company twice. Why?You should no longer get two: creating a company now recognises a repeat of the same request. If you already have a duplicate from before, the second one is empty and can simply be left alone, or removed from Settings.
What is the Playground, and does it cost money? It is a chat box in the console for trying any model before you build. It opens on GPT-6 Luna, and the model list is searchable. It is the real product, so it spends your real balance at the same prices, and each request appears in the live list beside the chat with its cost. It uses a key of its own called Playground, limited to chat requests and expiring after a day, so its traffic is easy to tell apart from your apps. Signing out revokes it.
Why does the Playground say my role cannot run it?The Playground needs to create its own key, and only owners, admins and members can create keys in an organization. A viewer can see usage but not make requests. Switch to your personal account, or ask an admin to change your role.
I have many users. Do I need a key for each? No. Keep one key on your server and name the user on each request with the X-Bridge-End-User header. Bridge meters each user separately, enforces their budget, and refuses once it is spent. Create users from your backend at signup with POST /v1/end-users, or turn on auto-create. Never put a key in a mobile or browser app.
Does giving a user a ₦5,000 budget move ₦5,000 out of my balance? No. A budget is a limit on how much of your balance that user may spend. Money only leaves your balance as they use it, and a request needs both room in their budget and money in your balance. The End users page shows what you have allocated beside what has been used, so you can see whether your balance covers your promises.
What happens when an end user runs out?Their next request is refused with 402 end_user_budget_exhausted before any work starts, so it costs nothing. Everyone else keeps working. Top them up with POST /v1/end-users/{id}/top-up, or their budget resets at the start of their next period. If you add a webhook, you are told when they reach 80% and when they run out.
Can a user pay to top up their own AI credit?Yes, through you. Take the payment in your app as you do now, then call the top-up endpoint with the payment's reference as the Idempotency-Key. A retried callback then adds the credit once. Bridge never charges your users directly.
Can I limit which models a key or a user may use?Yes. Give a key or an end user allowed_models: exact ids, prefixes such as "claude-*", or "vendor:anthropic". A request for anything else is refused with 403 model_not_allowed, auto only picks from the allowed list, and GET /v1/models with that key lists only what it may call.
Can I use my own provider key?Yes. Add your Anthropic, OpenAI or Google key under Providers. Requests for that company's models (Claude, GPT or Gemini) then run on your account: the provider bills you directly, and nothing is taken from your Wekoya balance. We still log every request. Other models keep billing through Wekoya. You can store several keys per provider, tried by priority, with a monthly budget and promotional credit on each. If your keys fail, the request fails with the reason; it only moves to your Wekoya balance if you turn on wallet fallback or add it to a routing rule.
How much does a request on my own key cost in naira?Nothing from your Wekoya balance. Bridge also shows an estimate of what your provider will bill you: their list price converted at a fixed ₦1,300 per dollar, with no markup, marked with “≈”. Your provider bills you in dollars, so their invoice is the final figure.
Will Bridge ever bill my balance for a model my own key covers?Only if you say so. By default a model your keys can serve runs only on them. Turn on wallet fallback under Providers, or add "wallet" to a routing rule, and Bridge carries on on your balance when your keys are skipped or failing. One request can also choose with the X-Bridge-Billing header.
Are prompts stored? Not in our database. Prompt text, replies, reasoning, images and tool payloads pass through without being persisted. What is recorded per request is the model, the token counts, the cost and the rates used, which is what makes the bill auditable.
